The Road to Bakka
The drive from Gudvangen to Bakka is a classic Western Norwegian experience - incredibly beautiful, but narrow. Here is what you need to know for a stress-free trip:
-
Meeting Points: The road is single-lane but features frequent passing places marked with a blue sign and a white "M".
-
Look Ahead: Keep your eyes up. If you see a car approaching, stop at the nearest "M" point to let them pass.
-
Do Not Park in Meeting Points: These must be kept clear for traffic to flow smoothly.
-
Large Vehicles: The road is fully accessible for campervans and larger vehicles (trucks drive here weekly). However, remember that you are wider than regular cars - please drive slowly and be considerate.
Local Tip: "Take your time. There is no need to rush here. The drive is part of the World Heritage experience."
